EXAM INFORMATION / PROCESS
When submitting your examination application provide a photocopy of your state/provincial dispensing license or registration and a letter on company letterhead from your employer or individual who supervised your training attesting to your two years of full-time dispensing experience.
Upon completion of processing and verifying exam candidacy, NBC-HIS will contact the exam candidate with a link to the Webassessor platform for candidates to schedule their exam session. An exam confirmation notice will be emailed to the exam candidate immediately following exam registration.
The exam candidate must present the exam confirmation notice to the exam proctor at the exam site on the day of the scheduled exam. An NBC-HIS examination application will remain valid for two years from the initial exam date. In the case that an exam candidate does not pass the National Competency Exam within two years from the initial exam date, he/she must submit a new application for approval and will be required to pay the examination fee.
NBC-HIS is committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”) and the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). To request accommodations, please download, complete, and return this form: “Candidate Accommodation Request Form.” If you prefer, you may contact NBC-HIS at email@example.com for the form.
You must submit the completed request form along with the required supporting documentation prior to scheduling an exam appointment.
NBC-HIS will conduct an individualized assessment of each request for accommodation based upon the documentation submitted by the candidate in accordance with the Candidate Accommodation Request Form requirements. The accommodation assessment period is typically thirty (30) days. Upon completing the assessment, NBC-HIS will notify the candidate whether the accommodation request has been approved or denied. If approved, the candidate will then receive scheduling assistance from NBC-HIS staff.
Under the ADA and the ACA, NBC-HIS is not required to provide accommodations that would fundamentally alter what the exam is intended to test, jeopardize exam security, or result in an undue burden.
Exam sites are pre-approved, highly secure computer lab testing centers at university/college campuses, training centers, etc. and are located in the U.S., Canada and select international locations. Exam candidates may reschedule an exam reservation to another date or location at no charge provided the request is received more than 72 hours prior to the original scheduled exam date. Please note, once an exam reservation is transferred to another date or location, the exam fee is no longer refundable. An $95 fee will be assessed if an exam reservation is rescheduled within 72 hours of the original scheduled exam date. Candidates may not reschedule their appointment with less than 24 hours notice . This is considered a no show and the candidate forfeits their exam fee.
To obtain additional information on the National Competency Exam, please contact the NBC-HIS office at 734.522.2900.
On the day of your scheduled exam, please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow sufficient time for the exam proctor to verify your identity (you will need two pieces of ID; one MUST be a photo ID) and check-in before the published exam start time. A maximum of 105 minutes is provided for completion of the exam, which begins at the conclusion of registration and instructions. Late arrivals WILL NOT receive a time extension. You may not carry any additional papers, briefcases or other personal belongings, including cell phones, Apple watches, etc., into the exam site.
If you are unable to take the NBC-HIS Exam on your scheduled date or at the scheduled location, you are entitled to a refund of your exam fee if your request is received and acknowledged by NBC-HIS staff at least four (4) business days prior to the scheduled exam date.
An exam date may be rescheduled for another date and/or time, if necessary. An additional exam fee will be assessed for any schedule changes made less than four (4) business days prior to the exam date.
